Mrs. Henry Hiller
Monday, October 287:00—8:30 PMLarge Conference RoomWilmington Memorial Library175 Middlesex Ave, Wilmington, MA, 01887
Have you heard of Mrs. Dr. Henry Hiller a/k/a France Hiller? Perhaps you learned of her recently when her ghost was rumored to have appeared at a local grocery store? Also known as “The Casket Woman,” for the elaborate caskets that she commissioned for herself and her husband in the late nineteenth century, Mrs. Hiller was a larger than life figure. She cut a wide swath through Wilmington, a small rural town at the time that had little experience with her big city flamboyance. Although her interest in the afterlife, as evidenced by her casket project, is well known, there is much more to the story of her life, both her private and public persona. Join us for a presentation of her life story and learn how her influence is felt in Wilmington to this day.
Capacity: 74 of 100 spaces available.
