The Past, Present, and Future of the Gender Wage Gap

Dr. Debra Michals, Director of Women's and Gender Studies at Merrimack College, and a women's/gender historian, will speak on the history of the gender wage gap and what current obstacles are still in place that prevent it from closing. She will discuss the importance of women in the workplace over the years and discrimination they've faced. Dr. Michals' expertise includes feminist history and social movements from marginalized groups, having earned a B.S. in Journalism from Boston University, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in U.S. History from New York University. She is currently publishing a book on the rise of women's entrepreneurship following WWII.
