We may think we learned everything we need to know about the alphabet in kindergarten, but calligraphy allows us to see the 26 letters in a whole new way. From medieval monks working on vellum to contemporary artists, Susan Kapuscinski Gaylord explores the history of calligraphy and the basic principles of pen lettering. A presentation which includes slides and demonstration will be followed by a hands-on session. Participants will be introduced to the basic principles of holding and writing with a broad edge marker. They will be given a handout to continue work at home.
